Brand / Identity

The Identity of a company or an organization and the development of brands has become increasingly important in recent years. The internet has created the need for us all to maintain a public ‘web presence’, and that requires careful consideration in order to help us toward our goals, rather than hinder us. The creation of a well-designed and effective identity should be the first consideration behind the public face of any organization or company. The business objectives must be considered, the audience must be profiled, and the intended messages must be clarified at the outset. Once an identity is built on these solid foundations, the design and production of communication material becomes a great deal easier.

Cabot Links
Cabot Links is a development spearheaded by Toronto entrepreneur, Ben Cowan-Dewar. The project plans to create Canada’s first true links-style golf course in the tiny community of Inverness in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The land is said to be some of the last remaining great property for golf course development in North America, With the help of course architect, Rod Whitman, it is speculated that Cabot Links will be Canada’s next great golf experience.

This logo was designed to help the project proceed from its early beginnings with a proper identity to build upon. It consists of a simple illustration of the Matthew, which the explorer, John Cabot sailed in when he first discovered the region in the 15th Century. The typeface is one which reflects the Celtic traditions of the region; a place where the elders still speak Gaelic.
